Aggretsuko Season 2; Enough with Haida Fandom!

So I loved the new season even as it reminded me of a recent friend and therefore friend break-up.
 
The show continues to be awesomely funny and an interesting look at a young woman navigating life. Driving lol, friends lol, speed dating lol, Mom's lol, work volunteering lol, training a newbie EEP. 

My critic is with the focus shift from work to romance. Not enough work related RAGE or RAGE in general. 

The new guy was seriously creepy and not-ok, I don't care that he needed Mom validation, his texting was scary. Being harassed like that is scary as hell. I wanted more empowerment for Retsuko in that resolution.

This leads into her other resolution, her romance desires. Mr. Donkey was a tech dude, dreaming and flying high, lost on practicals and destructive of day to day. Apt to his driving intro. It makes perfect sense she's charmed by the escapism of a dream life, especially with her mother pushing a romantic need to come to jesus and choose a set path, and specific type of life or desire, and that she eventually sees the reality herself. She learns she admires and thrives not in the unknown, but perhaps in traditional practical measures, which she'll pursue at her choosing. 

But why again does that advice come from Ton? Her mother was the perfect set-up, and I'm disappointed the show didn't resolve their relationship or deepen it through that, especially because her mother's perspective on her dating a rich tech guy would have been fun and funny and deep, and because her Mom is the one she needed to find a balance with about traditions and dating versus desiring and dreaming wants.Ton was not the right person to be helping her recognize the problems again, it felt like a season 1 retread.

This also brings me to Haida. Haida is a stagnant character and I'm tired of him. Nice guy with no arc, perpetual piner for Retsuko. It's annoying. It's not romantic if she has no interest clearly. It's anti-feminist. I don't get fandom's obsession with him or why he deserves a shot or ship just cause his one character trait is liking her. NO. Retsuko deserves better. I'm focused and want the show focused on what Retsuko chooses and wants, not what Haida could be for her. UGH. Anytime I see fannish stuff with him, I get alittle angrier. So many better characters and things to focus on.

Fenneko needed more to do this season, but the others were the best. Washimi and Gori, my girl, continue to be great. Loved the deeper look at their friendship and personalities, even as they conflict. Loved Mrs. Hippo and family. Loved her friend who is constantly moving her failing business.

Friendships and work, the struggle is real, are the life-blood of the show for me. The metal continues to slay as well, though I loved the other song styles, keep the metal show.
